Docks at Hatteras Village

Guided by Lynne Foster. She is a popular local author and seafood industry expert. Her husband is Captain Ernie Foster.
(read her local food column, click here!)

Watch the boats come in with their catches. Learn about local fish, watch them being cleaned, learn about what happens after the fish are caught!

Established in 1937 by the late Capt. Ernal Foster, the Albatross Fleet has fished every season since then except for the years of WW II.  The fleet is now operated by Capt Ernie Foster who, having learned from his father, is one of only three second-generation native guides operating out of Hatteras.

IF the universe allows us to be in the right place at the right time, we may even get to see the fish house!

5:00 (ish)

Tour ends.

Feel free to continue to walk to docks and enjoy Hatteras! Stay and enjoy dinner at Dinky's, above the Village Marina office next to Albatross Fleet.  The chef is a commercial fisherman and has the contacts to get good seafood fresh from the boats.  He gets some of the varieties not often seen in restaurants.  Plus - he is a great chef!

All tours are customized, may be combined or expanded, and vary with the season. Group tours are guided, but transportation is not included. Tours generally last about 3 hours and begin at $95 per person. Minimum number of people in a group is 4. Geographic considerations may vary tour options. Accommodations and ground transportation may be arranged, but are not included. Contact OBE for customized itineraries for smaller parties.

All tours can conclude with your personal chef-guide

teaching you how to cook your fresh seafood purchases!
